A medical student from the University of Leicester was deemed “unfit to practice medicine” after  posting an infamous Liam Neeson quote on his Facebook account.

According to the Leicester Mercury, 4th year medical student Ravindu Thilakawardhana lost his cool when explicit images of his friend began to circulate on the  networking site.

Mr Thilakawardhana then followed up with a private message allegedly telling, “I do not want to see you on a night out in Leicester, or in the United Kingdom.”

After one student reported the messages, the University of Leicester dropped him from the medical course, with a disciplinary panel deeming him “unfit to practice medicine.”

Mr Thilakawardhana appealed the panel’s decision, with Thilakwardhana’s lawyer, Clive Newton QC, claiming that the decision was harsh. Mr.Thilakwardhana believed the pictures were posted as part of “carefully planned revenge” by “targeting [Mr Thilakawardhana’s] future medical career.”

The University’s decision has been upheld by a judge, stating that he’s “fundamentally incompatible with continuing on a medical course or  practicing as a doctor.”
