So it seems fitting that, on Throwback Thursday, we look back to one of Mike Tyson’s early fights.

Iron  Tyson became known for throwing lightning-fast, brutally  punches — hence the name — and he helped establish that reputation as an amateur. Mike Tyson won 2 Junior Olympics gold medals before turning professional, including this one as a 15-year-old in ’81 over Joe Cortez, who went on to become a legendary boxing referee. The fight lasted just 9 seconds.
